Publishing Ethics

IHA strives to follow the highest standards to publishing ethics. We try our best to follow the Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing, and Publication of Scholarly work in Medical Journals issued by the International Council of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE). We maintain the following positions on issues related to research and publication ethics:

Ethical Conduct in Research

IHA requires authors to seek approval on their research from the relevant Institutional Review Board of Ethics Committee at their institution/country approved their research, when necessary.

Conflict of Interest

All corresponding authors are required to declare any conflicting interests related to the submitted research using the ICJME’s Conflict of Interest form. Starting in 2019, text generated by the ICJME form will be included in the final published version of the article.

Plagiarism

Starting in 2019, IHA journals will use Crossref’s Similarity Check service to check the originality of submitted manuscripts. Depending on the journal, similarity checks will be conducted on submission, on acceptance or both.

Misconduct

Editorial Boards of IHA journals are asked to follow the Flowcharts developed by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to resolve any cases of suspected misconduct. Cases of severe conduct can result in retraction if discovered after publication.
